For whatever reason, I’ve been thinking of this stupid 80's comedy, Weekend Pass. Ok, not really — it’s the refrain from the theme song and it’s eightiesness.
(Was going to post the trailer, but noticed some brief nudity. Google it, if you must...Oooo, a CJ-7)
Anyway, my curiosity led me to search if the whole film was on YT, Dailymotion, or a streaming site. Welp, it’s not readily available.
So I decided to look at the cast list just to see if anyone moved on to more noticeable work. No one stuck out... except for one:

Phil Hartman!
Damn, I miss him.
So I start looking at his Wikipedia page. Had no ideal one of his earliest rolls on screen was 1978. Of course, I hit the sad stuff — being the victim of a murder-suicide by his then wife.
Then I came across this little nugget of information supposedly offered (among other accusations) by his longtime friend, actor Jon Lovitz:
The Day of Swine and Roses??? Considering Hartman was at the height of his popularity, and Lovitz being a well respected supporting character actor in the industry at the time, I was dying to see if I could find any information on the planned film’s plot. But so far, I’ve found nothing.
Except the obvious first link:

Why did this search have to end with Christian Zombie Vampires...another catchy refrain

That Weekend Pass song may be quintessential 80s, but wow, it’s terrible.

It is.

I don't remember this at all. Nice quick shot of the Pan-Pacific Auditorium though, real shame what happened to that.

That fact kinda reinforces it being quintessential 80s though.

The refrain sounds like “we can pass”, and I keep thinking “in that car? no t so sure”.

In 1984? They were sharing the road with diesel Chevettes and Rabbits

But there were some great theme songs to come out of the 80s.
These are just the few that come to mind.

I was thinking of songs in general. There was a lot of crap in the 80s.

I know. I drove one of those Chevettes. That’s why I said not so sure. It depends.
